Thanksgiving celebration in Plymouth

The weekend before Thanksgiving (November 18-19), America’s hometown – Plymouth, Massachusetts – will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving Celebration where history is brought to life as Pilgrims, Native Americans, soldiers, patriots and pioneers proudly climb out of history books and onto the streets of Plymouth.” Their mission:

Courage, fortitude, faith, virtue and brotherly love—the Pilgrim legacy—a legacy of Character that formed the cornerstone of America.  Our mission is to preserve the integrity of this legacy by focusing on key individuals and events in our American Pilgrimage where this character has been exemplified. Our goal is to lead our nation in giving thanks to God for the blessings of this inheritance by producing a Thanksgiving Celebration for excellence in Plymouth, America’s Hometown, where Thanksgiving began.

For 16 years, hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life have traveled to the historic Plymouth Harbor and Waterfront to experience a bounty of authentic Americana. My friend Dr. Paul Jehle, pastor of The New Testament Church in Cedarville, is one of the founders of this event, and serves as the education director and historic consultant.

Dr. Jehle and Olly DeMacedo, the celebration’s executive director, were on Glenn Beck earlier this year discussing the event: http://youtu.be/jDstyhy7_zY. You can find out more about America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration, including a schedule of events, at www.usathanksgiving.com.
