Same-sex marriage looks dead in Rhode Island

Even with the House Speaker and Governor throwing their weight behind it, same-sex “marriage” looks to go down in defeat once more in the Ocean State. Rhode Island legislators have been hearing loudly from voters that same-sex “marriage” is a non-starter, and if they want it, they should send it to the ballot for the people to decide.

According to Christopher Plante, executive director for the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), final votes on the bill remain “on a knife’s edge,” as reported in the Brown Daily Herald. The paper also quotes a same-sex “marriage” supporter, Sen. Rhode Perry (D-Providence), as saying that “referendums are mechanisms that frequently hurt the rights of minority groups.” In other words, “We will lose if we go to the people.” NOTE: We hear the same being said by legislators and same-sex "marriage" special interest groups in Massachusetts!
