Rally kicks off effort to stop doctor-prescribed suicide

Last Thursday, a significant and diverse crowd gathered on the steps on the State House to show broad and united opposition to the proposed legalization of doctor-prescribed suicide. I was there to lend not on my personal support, but the support of Massachusetts Family Institute. Here a report from the organizers:

John Kelly and Karen Schneiderman were eloquent as they talked about the danger the so-called “Death with Dignity” act poses to the disabled. Patricia Stewart, Esq, spoke on the lack of safeguards surrounding the process. Former State Representative Mark Carron conducted the event as MC and discussed the danger to the developmentally disabled and society generally.

It was great to see that a number of people are concerned about what happens to the vulnerable and will work to oppose this dangerous and imprudent measure. There’s still a long way to go but we are off to a good start.
