Casino debate looks to heat up soon

Our friends at United to Stop Slots in Massachusetts (USS Mass) announced in an email this week that “the calm before the storm has ended and casino proponents have re-emerged, with new backing behind them.” Now more than ever we need more voices talking about predatory gambling and voicing opposition to bringing the Vegas culture to the Bay State. Here is how you can help:

  1. Discus the issue with your family, friends, colleagues and neighbors.
  2. Sign up to receive the USS Mass updates by visiting www.uss-mass.org/join.html
  3. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper opposing predatory gambling and calling on people to speak up against it.

As the debate and vote on expanded gambling gets closer, we will call on you to lobby your legislators directly, via phone calls, personal visits, and, of course, email. As last year demonstrated, expanded predatory gambling is anything but assured.
