Tomorrow: Sex Ed Mandate Hearing!

The Joint Committee on Education announced a hearing on HB 673 and SB 318 “An Act Relative to Healthy Youth,” a euphemism for the Sex Ed Mandate. The virtual hearing will be tomorrow, Thursday, May 20th at 12:00 PM. Click here to register to testify. The deadline to register is 5:00 PM today!

If you are unable to attend the virtual hearing you may submit written testimony via email to House Chair Alice Peisch at Alice.Peisch@mahouse.gov and Senate Chair Jason Lewis at Jason.Lewis@masenate.gov. Written testimony must include “EDUCATION COMMITTEE TESTIMONY HB 673 and SB 318” in the subject line. Emails must include your name and phone number.

If the Sex Ed Mandate makes it out of committee and is voted into law it will take control over curriculum decisions away from local school districts and parents and put it in the hands of unelected bureaucrats at the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). It will also give complete authority to DESE to ensure compliance with the Sex Ed Mandate.

For school districts who choose to teach sex ed it will force them to do the following:

  • Choose only a DESE approved Comprehensive Sexuality Education curriculum (click here and here for examples of DESE approved curriculum)
  • Mandate lessons about different sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions
  • Define the terms “consent,” “gender identity,” “gender expression,” and “sexual orientation” according to The National Sex Education Standards: Core Content and Skills, K-12, as developed by the Future of Sex Education Initiative (an activist group that promotes a radical sexual ideology for children – click here to read excerpts from these standards)

Make your voices heard! Protect the children of the Commonwealth and say NO to mandated graphic sex ed!
