Battle for Bathrooms and Showers Continues

MA Family Institute assesses options concerning newly passed Transgender Bathroom Law

The bathroom bill signed into last Friday by Governor Baker puts millions of women and children in our Commonwealth at risk.  Despite the thousands of calls and emails from concerned citizens to their legislators and our governor, our elected officials on Beacon Hill have ignored the voice of the people and, frankly, common sense.  It would be irresponsible for us to simply let this threat to safety stand.  That is why Massachusetts Family Institute is currently in discussions with community leaders across the Commonwealth about the way forward.

Fortunately, our state constitution guarantees the right of a free people to resist an unaccountable and unresponsive Beacon Hill bureaucracy by repealing bad laws directly through the ballot referendum process.  This is one option that we are exploring, putting the bathroom bill on a statewide ballot for the people to decide through a direct vote.  We understand that this would be no small undertaking, but we are committed to defending our families and will explore whatever recourse we have through the democratic process to fulfill our duty as mothers, fathers and concerned citizens.
