Kris Mineau comments on healthcare passage
Sunday March 21, 2010 - 11:27 AM
MFI President Kris Mineau comments on the House passage of the Senate version of the healthcare bill following the promise of an executive order from President Obama.

Friends,

Just like many of you, I was glued to my television and my computer today watching the healthcare debate unfold. It was like a punch to the stomach as the breaking news was reported that Rep. Bart Stupak had caved in and reached a so-called "compromise" with the White House. Massachusetts Family Institute remains strongly opposed to the Senate-approved health bill (H.R. 3590).

The Executive Order promised by President Obama is nothing more than a piece of political theater. It will not change anything, and the healthcare bill will absolutely fund abortions with taxpayer dollars. The president does not have the authority to amend the bill by issuing an executive order, and the federal courts will enforce the law.

I want to personally thank each and every one of you who called, faxed and emailed your Member of Congress on this legislation. While all but one of them voted in support of this severely flawed bill, you made your voice heard. You let each of them know that you do not support this bill, and you will not support them in November. This is very important in our form of government.

Rest assured, the fight is not over. The "process" will continue, especially in the courts, and the debate will not subside, even after this blatant government take-over with 16,500 new IRS positions becomes law.

For our families,

Kris Mineau
President, Massachusetts Family Institute
